The Alliance Signs On to Reject Cuts to Funding for FY 2026 Programs of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
October 2025 - AAIM joins the coalition in urging the Labor, Health, and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies to reject cuts of $1.77 billion to programs of the CDC in FY 2026. The CDC Coalition urges House and Senate leaders reject cuts it believes undermines critical public health programs. Instead, the Coalition requests a final FY 2026 bipartisan bill providing robust funding for the CDC and its vital contributions to the country's health care infrastructure.

The Alliance Signs On to Support $47.2B for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
October 2025 - AAIM joins more than 450 members of the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research urging leaders of the House and Senate (HHS) appropriations committees to finalize the FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) spending bill of $47.2 billion for NIH. Funding is already Senate Appropriations Committee-approved and would be in addition to funding for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).

September 2025 - As of September 22, 2025, 164 organizations have signed on to a letter requesting lawmakers to develop a new, more transparent model for ensuring that institutions’ essential research costs are adequately supported. The letter also urges the relevant governing bodies not to institute arbitrary caps which, without nuance, could prevent high-quality scientific research.

AAIM Posts Public Comment Urging the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to Protect Duration of Status for J-1 Visa Physicians
September 2025 - The public comment period for proposed DHS rule Docket ICEB-2025-0001 is now open and the Alliance encourages all members to participate. If implemented, J-1 physicians would be required to complete Extensions of Status (EOS), a process which can take 6 months to more than a year. AAIM leaders posted a public comment explaining the unnecessary nature of the change and urging DHS to protect physicians' duration of status. The comment period closes September 29, 2025.
