  • Rachel Cyrus, MD, SFHM, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, was awarded an SHM 2024 Awards of Excellence and Junior Investigator Award.
  • Denise M. Dupras, MD, PhD, was awarded the NBME 2024 Distinguished Service Award, recognizing her commitment to the evaluation of health professionals    Seven long-standing volunteers recognized for their commitment to the evaluation of health professionals.
  • Susan Lane, MD, MACP, Renaissance SOM at Stony Brook University, was appointed to the rank of State University of New York (SUNY) Distinguished Faculty by the SUNY Board of Trustees for 2023-2024.

June 2024

  • Emelia J. Benjamin, MD, ScM, FACC, FAHA, Boston University Aram V. Chobanian & Edward Avedisian SOM, was awarded the Louis B. Russell Jr. Memorial Award for her decades of promoting health equity through mentoring and education. The American Heart Association presents this award annually for outstanding service to under-resourced communities.

  • Tisha S. Wang, MD, ATSF, University of California at Los Angeles, has been awarded the 2024 ATS Respiratory Health Award - Outstanding Educator. This award recognizes lifetime achievements and excellence in clinical or research educating and mentoring in the fields of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.

May 2024

  • Dr. Sylk Sotto, MBA, MPS, EdD, has been appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for faculty development and inclusive excellence at the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences.  Dr. Sotto serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, and Vice Chair for Diversity, Health Equity, and Inclusion at the Indiana University School of Medicine. 
  • Jennifer O’Toole, MD, MEd, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, receives the ACGME Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award.
  • Susan Hingle, MD, MACP is the 2024-2026 president of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).

April 2024

Karen E. Hauer, MD, PhD, Vice Dean for Education at University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and former CDIM President, will be the recipient of the 2024 NBME John P. Hubbard Award, which recognizes significant contributions in the field of medical education research and assessment.

APM President Anne B. Curtis, MD, SUNY Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at University at Buffalo, has been chosen to receive the 2024 Dr. Carolyn McCue Award for Woman Cardiologist of the Year.

  • Seetha Monrad, MD, appointed Associate Dean for Medical Student Education at University of Michigan Medical School., Vice Chair for Education at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, has been selected to join the editorial board of the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
