How long have you been a member of AAIM?
I’ve been a member of AAIM for a couple of months, and in that short time I’ve appreciated the resources and experience it has provided.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to support my providers in whatever they need— big or small—to make their lives easier while they care for underserved patients, teach, and manage their day-to-day duties.

How has the AAIM membership been of value to you and your career?
AAIM membership has been incredibly valuable by providing access to educational resources, networking opportunities, and a supportive professional community. Even in just a short time, it has helped me feel more knowledgeable in my work and strengthen my skills.

When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in the medical field?
I don’t think there was a specific moment when I decided to pursue a career in the medical field, but after graduating with my undergraduate degree and finishing collegiate soccer, I applied for positions at UMMC. I started in the OR cleaning rooms after surgery and transporting patients, and I’ve never wanted to leave. I realized how much purpose I find in serving others and contributing to patient care, even behind the scenes.

What or who inspires you and why?
My dad inspires me. He is now retired from the Army, but throughout my life he has always given me meaningful life lessons and pushed me to be the best version of myself. He still reminds me that ‘tomorrow never comes,’ which motivates me to stay focused, work hard, and make the most of every day.

What advice would you give to those who wish to pursue a career in this industry?
Understand that every day will be different, so develop the ability to adapt and stay steady. If you can approach the work with a strong mindset and a willingness to grow, you will thrive.

What is your favorite book or movie?
I didn’t watch many movies growing up, but I would have to say "Masterminds" is my favorite movie. My favorite book is the Housemaid series by Frieda McFadden.
