Tech Mate! Leveraging Innovative Technology to Address Education Gaps in Residency

When:  Mar 5, 2025 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

Medical education and practice face growing challenges that complicate learning. Navigating EMR workflows, overwhelming data, fast-paced medical advances, personal priorities, patient challenges, and institutional structures complicate the residency educational experience. At the same time, formal education must adapt to the evolving infrastructure of learning (e.g., virtual settings) and adult learning theory. Technology can be reframed from merely a source of anxiety and complication to a tool leveraged to enhance resident training. Embracing asynchronous or automated learning can reduce the time demands on faculty.

Advancing technology offers fresh avenues for improving education for those with obstacles, like neuroatypical traits or IMGs. Machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) provide opportunities to enhance education in the ACGME dimensions of systems-based practice, professionalism, and interpersonal and communication skills. This webinar will provide specific tools and examples of how innovative technology can assist residents in effectively navigating their education. Emphasis will be placed on the social and operational aspects shaping their roles as physicians and their achievements in academic medicine. Participants can apply these methods in their residency curriculum to enhance education.
