The 2021 AAMC US Medical School Faculty Roster Report indicated that of 189,553 basic and clinical sciences faculty, a total of 295 individuals identified as American Indian or Alaska Native. Only 24 of these faculty were in internal medicine! In comparison, the US Census Bureau reported 7.1 million individuals in the nation's 2020 American Indian and Alaska Native population.
