Elections: AIM

Candidates

President-Elect

Bridget S. Working, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Bridget S. Working, SPHR, SHRM-SCPI am honored to be considered for President-Elect of the AIM Council. For more than eight years, I have actively contributed to AAIM, currently serving as AIM Treasurer and previously as an AIM Councilor. My engagement began on the AIM Program Planning Committee, and since then, I have worked to strengthen collaboration and member engagement across our community.

On the AIM Council, I have partnered with colleagues to execute initiatives that foster meaningful dialogue and shared learning. I currently co-lead the AIM webinar series, which provides a platform for ongoing conversations inspired by AAIM Week. I plan to continue this series to highlight the value of sharing knowledge among administrators from all AAIM institutions. To successfully meet the challenges ahead in academic medicine, we must strengthen our resilience by relying on our community. I also served on a cross-council workgroup that developed equitable post-interview communication guidelines—an effort informed by my HR expertise and experience with staff and faculty recruitment. I believe AIM members should continue participating in cross-council workgroups, and one of my goals is to expand these opportunities to more members.

In my role at Indiana University, I collaborate with departmental leadership to advance strategic goals, and I will bring this same spirit of partnership to the AIM Council. As President-Elect, my vision is for AIM to be the go-to resource for members—offering valuable perspectives and resources that reflect both individual experiences and collective expertise. It is imperative that diverse voices—across roles, institutions, and backgrounds—shape our collective future.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to serve and represent you.

I am honored to run for AIM Council Treasurer and to serve our academic community with transparent, data driven financial stewardship. As Vice Chair of Clinical and Academic Administration at Indiana University and IU Health, I oversee complex operations and partner closely with faculty and administrative leaders to align resources with mission. In my recent role, I have provided strategic oversight for budgeting and operational expense totaling $251 million and supported a workforce of 1,000+ clinicians and staff across our Department of Medicine—experience that has prepared me to manage AIM’s fiscal responsibilities with rigor and clarity.

Within AAIM, I have led the AIM Program Planning Committee for the past three years—working with colleagues to design high value AIM Week programming, plenaries, and special interest group engagement that reflects the breadth of our membership. I currently serve as Vice Chair of the AIM Educational Program Planning Committee too. Across AAIM, I’ve contributed through AIM Week presentations and engagement with special interest groups, focusing on practical solutions that improve our daily work—ranging from administrator well being to optimized APP utilization and management systems that drive performance. These efforts reflect my approach to finance: demystify the numbers, build shared understanding, and connect every dollar to outcomes that matter for our members and the customers we serve.

My vision as Treasurer is straightforward and focused on impact:

  • Transparency: be open about any financial actions and provide accessible reporting so members understand where funds are allocated and why.
  • Membership & Engagement Growth: invest in initiatives that expand AIM’s membership, deepen engagement, and elevate member voices from diverse roles, institutions, and geographies.
  • Aligned Support: actively support the AIM President’s priorities and Council goals, ensuring our financial planning enables the strategy our community sets.

I bring a perspective shaped by public academic medicine and by leading teams across clinical operations, compensation models, and program growth. As a woman leader (she/her), I am committed to elevating voices across sex/gender, race/ethnicity, geography, role, and rank, and to building a finance culture where every member sees themselves in our priorities. I would be grateful for your vote and the opportunity to serve with integrity, candor, and collaboration on behalf of AIM and AAIM.

My vision as an AIM Council member is to advance AAIM’s mission by fostering inclusive leadership, innovative education, and equitable opportunities across academic internal medicine. I am committed to elevating the diverse range of perspectives within the Alliance as the foundation for all initiatives, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Through collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, I will champion transformational professional development programs, promote best practices in medical education, and support seamless transitions across the continuum of training. By leveraging my experience in business operations and organizational strategy, I strive to strengthen AAIM’s capacity to deliver resources that empower physician and administrative leaders, while cultivating a culture of transparency, trust, and shared success.

As a strategic and results-driven business operations leader with 14 years of experience in academic medical center administration, I bring a proven record of managing complex clinical and academic units, leading cross-functional teams, balancing the needs of research, education, and clinical care, and driving operational excellence. My expertise spans budgeting, human resources, research administration, and strategic planning, mentorship, and network development, skills that directly align with AAIM’s mission to provide transformational professional development and redesign transitions across internal medicine education.

In my current role as Division Administrator at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I oversee $30M annual budget and lead administrative operations for a division of more than 80 faculty, 28 fellows, and 80+ staff and students. I have successfully directed strategic planning initiatives, optimized resource allocation, modeled inclusive leadership at the highest levels, and implemented operational improvements that support education, research, and clinical care. I actively contribute to creating inclusive environments that elevate underrepresented voices and foster equitable opportunities for professional growth.

If elected to the AIM Council, my vision is to:

  • Champion innovative professional development programs that empower physician and administrative leaders.
  • Advance best practices in medical education to improve faculty performance and learner transitions.
  • Promote inclusion and the wide range of perspectives across AAIM as the foundation for all initiatives, ensuring that AAIM remains a leader in cultivating an inclusive academic internal medicine community.
  • Strengthen collaboration and trust through transparent communication and shared accountability.

I am passionate about leveraging my operational expertise and strategic perspective to help AAIM achieve its goals and move the Alliance forward. Together, we can build a future where academic internal medicine thrives through innovation, inclusivity, and excellence.

Fiona Linn

I have an unorthodox background for someone in Internal Medicine administration: degrees in law and engineering; experience as a government lawyer and higher education legal/compliance professional; the perspective of growing up and working in Australia before moving to the US mid-career; and 12+ years' experience in U.S. health system compliance, operations, quality improvement, strategy, and change management. Against that backdrop, I have served as Division Administrator for Hospital Medicine at the University of Michigan (Michigan Medicine) for almost 4 years, where I have driven whole-scale change to funding model, compensation, shift structures/clinical operations, faculty and staff leadership structures, and recruitment/retention/wellness. I bring a unique set of skills, a proactive and positive style, and a reputation as a super-doer who is willing to roll up her sleeves and get stuff done! I love collaborating with the national colleagues we meet at AIM and am always energized by the commonalities as well as the differences that we glean through our time together. It would be my privilege to serve on the AIM Council and bring my improvement mindset and fresh perspective to this impactful organization.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be considered for the Council Treasurer position. When I joined AAIM a few years ago, I found it has been one of the few professional spaces where administrative leaders can speak openly about both the challenges and innovations shaping academic internal medicine. It has been a meaningful community for me, and I deeply value the professional relationships I have built through the Alliance. That sense of shared purpose and commitment to the academic mission is what motivates me to serve in a more impactful leadership role within AIM.

My professional path has taken me through multiple sectors before entering academic medicine more than six years ago, and each stage of that journey has shaped how I lead. I currently serve as the Division Administrator for the Division of Gastroenterology at Duke, where I oversee the financial, operational, and strategic functions of a large and complex program. My work requires balancing resources across clinical operations, research, and education while ensuring financial stability and long-term sustainability during a period of significant fiscal pressure in academic medicine. In recent years, I have developed and implemented initiatives resulting in more than one million dollars in cost savings, redesigned core compensation frameworks, and strengthened operational processes across multiple hospital sites and outpatient clinics. These efforts reinforced the importance of transparency, collaboration, and disciplined fiscal stewardship—principles that guide my work and align closely with the Treasurer role.

My perspective is also shaped by my diverse professional background and my experience as a woman of color in middle management and leadership roles where administrative voices are often underrepresented. I have worked in the service industry, retail, consulting, finance, and academic medicine, which gives me a grounded understanding of how decisions affect people at every level of an organization. I believe governance bodies are strongest when they reflect the full range of backgrounds, institutions, and lived experiences within their membership. I aim to bring forward the perspectives of individuals working in varied program types, resource environments, and institutional contexts, including those that differ from large academic centers.

As Treasurer, my goal would be to help the Council continue building a strong and sustainable financial foundation while championing initiatives that support members in practical and meaningful ways. I believe AIM’s impact grows when we invest thoughtfully, share knowledge across institutions, and create clear pathways for leadership development.

Serving on the Council would be a privilege, and I would welcome the opportunity to contribute my experience and energy to the continued growth of the Alliance.
