Where Safety Meets Clinical Reasoning: Creating Educational Experience for Diagnostic Safety Events

When:  Dec 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)

Where Safety Meets Clinical Reasoning: Creating an Educational Experience for Diagnostic Safety Event Reviews

Diagnostic errors produce invaluable learning opportunities, but the review of these important safety events is not currently incorporated into most graduate medical education training programs. Conferences focused on the systematic review of diagnostic safety events require a focus on both systems and cognitive factors in a single educational exercise. During this webinar, we will present the utility of two validated instruments from the AHRQ (the Diagnostic Error Evaluation and Research [DEER] Taxonomy and Safer Dx Instrument) in the review of diagnostic safety events and discuss important elements for building an effective educational experience including optimal case selection and conference structure and design.
