Working Backwards: Developing a Data Analysis Plan to Inform Your Educational Survey Design

When:  Dec 11, 2025 from 03:00 PM to 04:00 PM (ET)

Surveys and assessment tools are ubiquitous in program evaluation and medical education research. If designed and implemented using best practices, they can yield informative, actionable, and potentially publishable results. However, several critical factors can compromise even meticulously crafted surveys if not addressed during the design phase, including the formulation of a comprehensive data analysis plan.

This webinar will emphasize the importance of early decisions in the design process to subsequent data analysis, reporting, and dissemination. Participants will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of choosing different survey question types and response scales and explore the implications of using different options. Presenters will introduce fundamental considerations of developing an elementary data analysis plan as it relates to data quality, data analysis, and peer review and publication.
