The Alliance launches an annual survey each August of residency program directors (PDs) whose program was originally accredited by ACGME one academic year prior to that survey year. When timely or critical issues affecting graduate medical education arise, a an additional, off-cycle survey also is fielded. The APDIM Survey and Scholarship Committee oversees the survey development.
APDIM survey data are used to help members better understand and advance their profession by informing organizational policies and initiatives and by citing the results from analyses of the data published in medical education journals or presented at conferences such as Academic Internal Medicine Week (presentation and summary results files are available below). Survey results also are used to inform resources such as guidelines and “FAQ documents” available at the Alliance website as well as periodic Alliance Data in Brief communications.
