Applied Health Equity: The Black Coalition Against COVID as a Potential Model

February 2021— While COVID-19 has completely changed all aspects of life in the United States, it has also highlighted the glaring inequities in the American health care system, and in particular, the impact on underrepresented groups and other marginalized communities. Addressing these inequities is a major challenge for departments of medicine that have been on the front-line of the pandemic fight since the beginning.
Facilitators will provide an overview of the impact trust, patient-physician relationship, and structural issues in the healthcare system have on health inequities and how the Black Coalition Against COVID could be a framework for faculty, staff, and learners in departments of medicine can begin to combat these challenges.
