AAMC Seeks Reviewers for Telehealth Competencies

The present pandemic puts new pressures on the full spectrum of health care resources and demands wider adoption of telehealth services to reduce the risk of exposure through in-person care. In a 2019 national survey of medical education leaders focused on telehealth, just over 50% of respondents were providing learning opportunities in this area. This longitudinal collaborative effort will support educators designing and delivering telehealth curricula by asking:

  • What are the foundational competencies expected of entering residents, physicians entering practice, and experienced physician faculty– independent of specialty or practice setting?
  • How can these be used to inform curricular design for UME, GME, and CME programs?
  • What resources are available for medical educators to reinforce these competencies?
