Chair-Elect

I am running for the position of CDIM CA Advisory Council Chair-Elect in order to use my experience, skills, and passion to advocate for my fellow clerkship administrators within AAIM’s governing bodies. Since joining AAIM in 2023, I have been involved in multiple AAIM Week presentations and events, as well as being a part of both the CA Programming and Professional Development Committees. Through these opportunities, I have established myself as an administrator interested in involving new CAs early and retaining membership, encouraging collaboration across universities, and building connections between CAs and the rest of AAIM. I had the privilege of being elected a CDIM CA Advisory Council Member in 2024, and have taken the last year to learn and understand the interests and concerns of CAs across our organization. My vision for the council as Chair Elect would be to expand membership, promote professional development with a focus on career growth and relationship-building with leadership, and create more opportunities for early-career CAs to participate in AAIM groups. As a larger project, I wish to reexamine our centralized job description for CAs within AAIM, and help create a stronger set of responsibilities and trainings for CAs. My central goal of my term as Chair would be to standardize and define what it means to be a Clerkship Administrator within AAIM, and to build a network of CAs across AAIM to provide support, mentorship, and community. Having served on multiple professional organization boards (Medical Education Administrators and Coordinators of Wisconsin (MEAC), UW SMPH Coordinators Group), I am confident in my abilities as a leader and ability to work with others. If elected, you will find me to be a responsive Chair-Elect with a strong desire to collaborate and will encourage all CAs to participate in planning and vision-making for the CA group. Thank you for this opportunity to serve as your Chair-Elect.

I am honored to submit my candidacy for the CDIM CA Advisory Council Chair-Elect. For the past nine years, I have served as the Internal Medicine Clerkship Coordinator at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In this role, I have had the privilege of supporting students as they navigate one of the most formative parts of their education while collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure a strong, student-centered clerkship experience. What I value most in clerkship administration is the opportunity to connect with others—whether it’s guiding students through challenges, streamlining processes for faculty, or sharing best practices with fellow administrators. These relationships have shown me the importance of our collective work and inspired me to seek opportunities to contribute at a broader level through CDIM.

I became actively involved with the CDIM CA Council shortly after attending my first AAIM Week virtually in 2021. I currently serve on both the CDIM CA Program Planning Committee and the CDIM Professional Development Committee. In this capacity, I developed a monthly member newsletter that highlights upcoming professional opportunities, offers practical tips and best practices for coordinators, and shares information on ways to participate in meetings, committees, and presentations.

My commitment to advancing educational excellence has led me to present a workshop at the 2024 AAIM Week Conference titled “Promoting Professionalism: Help Them Help Themselves” and to co-present at the 2025 conference on topics including writing structured letters for residency applications and navigating the residency application journey. Additionally, I co-authored a module on “Student Management and Support” for the forthcoming AAMC-CGEA certification program. Lastly, I successfully completed my Master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership while working full time, demonstrating my strong commitment to continuous professional growth and my ability to effectively balance and excel in multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

If elected, I would focus on building collaboration within our community, creating avenues to share practical solutions, and promoting professional development that helps clerkship administrators grow in both skill and confidence. I believe our strength lies in learning from one another, and I am committed to fostering an environment where all voices are heard and valued. Outside of work, I enjoy taking on yard projects and DIY endeavors, activities that strengthen my creativity, strategic thinking, and ability to see complex tasks through from concept to completion — skills that translate directly into my professional work. Time spent with my two dogs brings balance and perspective, reinforcing the importance of patience and adaptability in all aspects of life. Additionally, running a small jewelry business has honed my entrepreneurial mindset, time management, and communication skills while deepening my appreciation for attention to detail and customer engagement. Together, these pursuits not only keep me grounded and inspired but also continually enhance the qualities that enable me to grow as a leader, collaborator, and contributor in my field.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to give back to this community that has been such a meaningful part of my own professional journey. Sincerely, Lisa Tandberg, MSML

Dear Fellow CDIM CAs, My name is Sarah Chun, IM Clerkship Coordinator at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, and I ask for your support as your CDIM CA Advisory Council representative. I have been a member of the alliance for three years and am part of the CDIM CA Program Planning Committee to build community-specific workshops for AAIM spring conferences.

If elected, my goal is to continue the council’s work in providing a professional hub for all CAs. Although Clerkship Administrators make up a small percentage of the alliance, our community brings a broad range of experiences that we are eager to share with our peers. I would be intentional about listening to common concerns and collaborating with fellow council members to strengthen engagement for both existing and new CAs. Through my involvement, I’ve seen how differences in resources, program size, and institutional support can affect membership and conference participation, and I would like to help develop ways to highlight the importance of CDIM CAs to program leadership as well as expanding opportunities for us to connect beyond the spring conference.

Thank you for your consideration. I would be honored to represent you and contribute to advancing the voice and work of CDIM Clerkship Administrators. Sarah Chun (she/her)

Councilor

Casper Menson

Casper Menson

Hello, fellow clerkship administrators! My name is Casper Menson, and I am honored to be running to serve you on the CDIM CA Advisory Council. I am a clerkship administrator at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR, where I have proudly served for the past year and a half.

As someone relatively new to the internal medicine clerkship sphere, I bring a fresh perspective grounded in my background in education and university administration. I am deeply passionate about ensuring high-quality professional development for clerkship administrators, both through year-round resources and during the Academic Internal Medicine Week conference. Since stepping into this role, I have attended the most recent conference in New Orleans, as well as several virtual workshops, and I absolutely love the sense of community and connection that these experiences create.

My vision for contributing to the Council centers on two priorities: fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as promoting meaningful engagement. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I believe it is vital that clerkship administrators of all backgrounds are welcomed and celebrated. Our diverse perspectives enrich our discussions, strengthen our community, and deepen the impact and reach of our shared work. I also believe the more we can engage with one another, the more learning we will take away. The most impactful moments I have had with AAIM are the conversations I have had with fellow members – moments like these are what I hope to elevate and expand.

Thank you for considering my candidacy for the CDIM CA Advisory Council. I am eager to contribute my energy, ideas, and commitment to strengthening our community of clerkship administrators. By uplifting diverse voices and creating more intentional spaces for connection, I hope to help build an environment where every member feels valued, supported, and engaged. I would be honored to serve and to continue the work of fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and meaningful professional growth for all of us. Thank you, Casper Menson
