APDIM Residency Program Director Surveys

APDIM Residency Program Directors (PDs) Survey data are used to help members better understand and advance their profession by informing organizational policies and initiatives. Survey results are published in medical education journals, presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week and other conferences, and are available to members as presentations and summary files (see below). Survey results also are used to develop resources such as guidelines and “FAQ documents” available at the Alliance website. The APDIM Survey and Scholarship Committee oversees development of the survey, which includes programs originally accredited by ACGME one academic year prior to the most recent survey year.

Coming in 2027: Survey of Residency Associate Program Directors

In late summer 2027, the Alliance will survey internal medicine residency associate program directors (APDs) to better understand the nature and scope of their roles and responsibilities. The APDIM Survey and Scholarship Committee primarily will oversee content development, and AAIM Surveys staff will manage data collection. Summary results will be available in spring 2028. Further analyses of the findings will inform scholarly works and presentations about the APD position in residency training and in program leadership.
