What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine, and when did you realize it was the right path for you?
My inspiration to pursue a career in medicine came from witnessing the profound impact that compassionate healthcare professionals can have on individuals and families during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. I was drawn not only to the science and complexity of medicine, but also to the human connection - ability to provide hope when patients need it most. Throughout my experience working in the medical field, I have had the privilege of supporting physicians, residents, faculty, and healthcare teams in high-pressure environments where teamwork, resilience, and compassion are essential. Watching my collogues care for patients with skill and empathy reinforced my admiration for the field and deepened my commitment to being part of that mission. I realized medicine was the right path for me when I began seeing how meaningful even small acts of support and advocacy could be in healthcare.

Which aspect of your work brings you the greatest fulfillment?
This work brings the greatest fulfillment from helping coordinate educational opportunities for resident physicians, contributing to patient-centered environments, and working alongside healthcare leaders who have dedicated themselves to excellent patient care. I recognized that medicine is more than a profession - it is a calling centered on service, lifelong learning, and making a difference in the lives of others.

How do you envision your AAIM membership contributing to your professional growth and career development?
AAIM membership will prepare me for the next set of challenges I will face in this field by providing opportunities to engage with leaders in academic internal medicine, expand my knowledge through educational resources and mentorship. Being part of an organization that values collaboration, innovation and lifelong learning aligns closely with my own professional goals and aspirations.

Who or what has been the most influential source of inspiration in your journey, and why?
Dr. Nanda Kumar has been one of the most influential sources of inspiration in my journey. He took the time to guide me as I explored whether being a nurse or hospital administration was the right path for me, encouraging me to reflect deeply on what I genuinely loved about healthcare and what aspects I found less fulfilling. His thoughtful mentorship helped me better understand my strengths, passions, and long-term goals, ultimately reinforcing my commitment to a career dedicated to service, leadership and patient-centered care.

Outside of work, what activities or hobbies bring you joy?
When I am not working, creating meaningful experiences through traveling and local adventures around Northern California calls to me- bringing peace and joy into my life. Reading is also enjoyable now.
