2027 Alliance Awards

Each year the Alliance and its charter associations honor members of the academic internal medicine community for outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the profession and the organization through the AAIM Awards Program. With many different awards designed to honor various positions within departments of medicine and the internal medicine community, there is ample opportunity to ensure your colleagues are recognized for their commitment, enthusiasm, and expertise.

Charles H. Griffith, III, MD, Educational Research Award

About the Award

The CDIM Charles H. Griffith, III, MD, Educational Research Award recognizes a CDIM member who has contributed significantly to educational research related to undergraduate medical education. The award is presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Criteria

• The nominee must be a CDIM member at the time of nomination.
• The nominee must demonstrate:
  • Outstanding contributions to educational research/scholarship to undergraduate medical education.
  • Scholarly endeavors related to undergraduate medical education (e.g., curricular innovations, evaluations of curricular designs, scholarly reviews, funded medical education grant applications), medical education publications, and CDIM workshops/abstracts.
  • Impact of scholarly work (e.g., local, national).
• The nominee must not be the recipient of a CDIM award in the past three award years. Please note, if a nominee is a current board, council, or executive committee member at the time the award recipient is being selected, they are not eligible for award consideration.

Submission Requirements

All submissions are completed online and require:

• Responses to award nomination criteria questions, which are based on the award’s nomination criteria.
• Upload of the nominee’s CV or resume. Please consider highlighting the sections that illustrate the nominee’s qualifications for the specific award.

Selection Process

• The nomination is reviewed, evaluated, and selected by CDIM Council. The evaluation and selection of the nominee is based on the responses to the award nomination criteria questions and the nominee’s CV or resume.
• All nominations may be considered for the year they are nominated as well as the following two years. An updated CV or resume is required for nominations to be reconsidered.

Early Career Medical Student Educator Award

About the Award

The CDIM Early Career Medical Student Educator Award is an award that recognizes innovation and excellence in medical student education by a CDIM member at the instructor or assistant professor level. The award is presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Criteria

• The nominee must be a current CDIM member for at least three cumulative years at the time of nomination.
• The nominee must have participated in at least one previous CDIM meeting in the two years prior to the nomination submission.
• The nominee must:
  • Demonstrate excellence in direct teaching, medical student advising, and educational leadership.
  • Demonstrate creativity in medical school education as evidenced by innovation/improvements (e.g., assessments, learning environment, curricula, continuous quality improvement) and outcomes (e.g., dissemination of work, teaching awards, medical education research/scholarship awards).
  • Demonstrate service to, and/or engagement with CDIM (e.g., workshop or abstract presentations, committee service).
• The nominee must hold the academic rank of instructor, assistant professor, or adjunct faculty AND have finished training no more than ten years ago.
• The nominee must not be the recipient of a CDIM award in the past three award years.

Please note, if a nominee is a current board, council, or executive committee member at the time the award recipient is being selected, they are not eligible for award consideration.

Linda J. Marts Administrator Service Award

About the Award

The CDIM Linda J. Marts Administrator Service Award recognizes a CDIM education administrator member who has contributed greatly to the association. The award is presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Criteria

The nominee must demonstrate the following attributes:

• The nominee must be CDIM education administrator member at the time of nomination.
• The nominee must have demonstrated outstanding contributions to CDIM. Contributions may include, but are not limited to, serving as a:
• Clerkship Administrators Advisory Council (CAAC) chair or council member
• Leader of a Clerkship Administrator Advisory Council committee, task force, or special interest group.
• Presenter at a CDIM national conference.
• Mentor to other CDIM education administrator members.
• The nominee must not be the recipient of a CDIM award in the past three award years.

Louis N. Pangaro, MD, Educational Program Development Award

About the Award

The CDIM Louis N. Pangaro, MD, Educational Program Development Award recognizes a CDIM member who has contributed to the development of an outstanding educational program. The award is presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Criteria

• The nominee must be a current CDIM member at the time of nomination.
• The nominee must have demonstrated active involvement in the development of an outstanding undergraduate medical educational program and describe the program’s impact and scholarly dissemination.
• The nominee must have participated in at least one previous CDIM meeting in the two years prior to the self-nomination.
• The nominee must demonstrate sustained engagement with CDIM.
• The nominee must not be the recipient of a CDIM award in the past three award years.

Please note, if a nominee is a current board, council, or executive committee member at the time the award recipient is being selected, they are not eligible for award consideration.

About the Award

The CDIM Ruth-Marie E. Fincher, MD, Service Award recognizes a CDIM member who has contributed greatly to the association. The award is presented at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Criteria

• The nominee must be a current CDIM member for at least ten cumulative years at the time of nomination.
• The nominee must have participated in at least one previous CDIM meeting in the two years prior to the nomination submission.
• The nominee must demonstrate sustained service to, or engagement with CDIM (e.g., workshop or abstract presentations, committee service). Service may be, but is not limited to:
  • Contributions made while serving as an officer or councilor.
  • Contributions made while serving as chair of a committee, sub-committee, working group, task force, or special interest group.
  • Contributions made by a member while representing CDIM to other organizations.
• The nominee must not be the recipient of a CDIM award in the past three award years.

Please note, if a nominee is a current board, council, or executive committee member at the time the award recipient is being selected, they are not eligible for award consideration.
