The program coordinator is a key member of each program's leadership team. They assist in meeting accreditation requirements, educational programming, and the support of residents and/or fellows.

At a growing institution adding additional learners at a rapid pace and onboarding program coordinators with minimal GME knowledge, the presenters saw a need for increase program coordinator support and supervision which was not possible with our current GME supervisory framework. This framework was traditional as program coordinators worked independently within their departments and had a dual-reporting structure through their program director and GME administrative director. A work group consisting of program coordinators and central GME staff was formed to identify the barriers with the traditional framework and create an effective implementation process for a new GME framework to overcome those barriers.

In this webinar presenters will explore the innovative use of a pod-structure framework within GME departments to foster improved collaboration, supervision, and engagement outcomes. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the core principles behind pod-based frameworks. We will present the process for obtaining leadership support, formulating a work group of relevant parties, determining a framework that is both sustainable and effective, and implementing that framework at your institution. Through interactive discussions on best practices, participants will learn practical strategies to implement and sustain pod-based frameworks effectively, addressing common challenges and maximizing program coordinator and GME staff engagement.
