The National Association of Designated Institutional Officials (NADIO) has formally recommended that by 2027, all fellowship start dates and orientation activity are delayed to July 7 or after. In support of this recommendation, which is endorsed by the Alliance, AAIM urges all internal medicine GME program leaders to work with their institution's DIO to plan for this change as soon as possible. NADIO has provided FAQs to help specialties operationalize the delayed fellowship start date.
