At less than 1% of the federal budget, the NIH delivers an outsized return on investment to America and its citizens, supporting medical research and breakthroughs in cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and so many more. The drafted budget includes an $18B cut to the NIH and also calls to eliminate crucial institutions without public input. The 500 organizations and 2,300 individuals joining the Research!America letter to Congress call for a minimum of $51.3B in NIH funding for FY 2026.
