A Note from the FY19 PAAC Chair
Dear Fellow Program Managers, Administrators & Coordinators:
It is truly an honor to serve and represent you as your chair of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM) Program Administrators Advisory Council (PAAC). Once again, we move synchronously together as we begin a new and exciting academic year.
Since becoming a PA in 2006, my passion remains strong for advocacy of our profession. My vision is to create an atmosphere of professional development and empowerment. Leadership needs strong teams to support our ideas and get things accomplished. In order to do this, we need to nurture our new administrators, empower our seasoned administrators, and build a community of strength by integrating our individual talents to one common goal. Leaders need to lead; and when we empower ourselves, we continue to have a seat at the table. Nonetheless, I encourage each of you to get involved and make a difference.
In the upcoming academic year, we will continue to put our talents to work by submitting workshop proposals, abstracts, posters and plenaries for everyone to share best practices and network. The meetings for the 2018-2019 season will take place in Orlando, Florida, October 25-27, 2018 and again at the Academic Internal Medicine Week Spring 2019 Conference in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Convention Center on April 14-16, 2019. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
As your colleague and chair, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I want to reiterate that our PAAC councilors and committee chairs are here to assist you. Together, we bring exceptional talent to the table that drives us a step forward to a common goal in taking our profession to the next level.
Thank you, again, for your confidence and support in allowing me to serve as your Chair.

Program Administrator Job Description and Salary Survey
The Program Administrators Advisory Council (PAAC) has prepared a position description as a standard for program administrators. The range of responsibilities outlined illustrates the diversity of the position; it cannot be a complete description of the position.
In 2011, PAAC distributed the Program Administrator Job Description and Salary Survey i to update the job description. Survey results help administrators write resumes, create job descriptions, and provide objective data regarding salary ranges of peers.
Certification for Program Administrators:
National Certification is available for internal medicine residency administrators through Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME). Certification sets a national professional standard for administrators of core and subspecialty programs and enhances career development.
