AAIM represents departments of internal medicine at medical schools and teaching hospitals throughout the United States and Canada.  With five unique organizations and an affiliate organization under its watch, the alliance covers every step of the academic internal medicine process:

• Association of Professors of Medicine (APM): Chairs and appointed leaders in internal medicine
• Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM): Accredited internal medicine residency programs
• Association of Specialty Professors (ASP): Specialty internal medicine divisions
• Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM): Physicians and administrators involved in internal medicine clerkships
• Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM): Business administrators in departments of internal medicine
