IM Essentials Study Suite for the Internal Medicine Clerkship

IM Essentials is the next generation of MKSAP for Students and Internal Medicine Essentials for Students, bringing the self-assessment questions and the textbook content into a single, updated, integrated suite of educational materials with a variety of new enhancements for clerkship directors and students.

A joint product of CDIM and the American College of Physicians (ACP), IM Essentials was created by over 90 CDIM members specifically for use in the clerkship to help students grasp and clinically apply key internal medicine concepts.  IM Essentials content is based on the CDIM-SGIM Core Curriculum for the Internal Medicine Clerkship and covers material students will encounter on the medicine shelf and USMLE Step 2 examinations.

IM Essentials Text is an abbreviated medical textbook organized by traditional internal medicine topics, created specifically to provide the appropriate breadth and depth of coverage for an eight or 12 week clerkship or rotation. The new edition features 106 chapters, more than 250 differential diagnosis tables, and over 150 color plates, imaging students, and EKGs.

IM Essentials Questions is a self-assessment question book that uses clinically based MKSAP-style questions to assess mastery of important internal medicine concepts. It includes more than 500 best single answer multiple choice questions, with detailed critiques explaining incorrect options and succinct key points to summarize important take home messages for each question.

IM Essentials Online

The digital version integrates the content of the text and the questions into an online resource that can be used on multiple devices.  It includes a custom quiz function, a "document your learning" function, self-assessment question performance data compared to other users, and access to over 1,000 digital flashcards derived from the core content.
