Recognizing a need to help division chiefs in their leadership position, the ASP Member Services Committee has designed a one-day meeting to provide current and aspiring division chiefs with “hands-on” information and advice about leadership, faculty development, and division management.

2010 ASP Accreditation Seminar:  "Meeting ACGME and RRC-IM Standards for Successful Fellowship Programs"
         March 13, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST - Hyatt Regency, DFW

Recognizing a need to help fellowship program directors better understand the requirements for fellowship programs outlined by the Review Committee for Internal Medicine, the ASP Member Services Committee has designed a one-day meeting to provide fellowship program directors with information to prepare for site visits and accreditation.

 K Award for Part-Time Faculty

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a new policy concerning career development K awards and part-time institutional appointments. The policy allows K award recipients to reduce their appointments to less than full-time in consideration of personal or family circumstances.

 T. Franklin Williams Scholars Program

Through strong partnerships with specialty societies and the generous commitment of the Atlantic Philanthropies (USA) Inc., and support of The John A.  Hartford Foundation, ASP developed a research award program for specialists in the early years of their first faculty appointment.  ASP partners with 12 internal medicine specialty societies to offer the Williams awards in 12 specialties, including general internal medicine.

 Integrating Geriatrics Into the Specialties of Internal Medicine

Building on the efforts of previous grants, ASP develped a four-year project to further embed excellence of geriatrics and gerontology into internal medicine.  Through the continued support of the John A. Hartford Foundation, ASP will work with the National Institutes of Health and internal medicine specialty societies to further integrate geriatrics into the specialties of internal medicine.
