 New Members

Membership in ASP is open to all specialty internal medicine divisions that sponsor accredited training programs. Each division is represented by its division chief and program director.

  • Departmental membership is offered to five or more divisions in a department of internal medicine; this option enrolls all the department's specialty divisions as members.  Dues are $1,500 a year. 
  • Divisional membership is open to all specialty internal medicine divisions with accredited training programs.  Dues are $300 a year.
  • Individual membership is available to physicians involved in an accredited fellowship program who do not serve as division representatives and former members who no longer work in a division of internal medicine but wish to continue participating in the organization's activities.  Dues are $100 a year.
  • Specialty societies are also invited to join ASP. Dues are $3,200 a year.

 Membership Statistics

ASP has 1,024 members representing 666 divisions and 101 medical schools and teaching hospitals in the US and Canada.  ASP also has 14 societal members.

 Award

The Eric G. Neilson, MD, Distinguished Professor Award is presented annually by the association to a physician who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and support of specialty medicine.
