Changing the Timeline for the Internal Medicine Fellowship Match

Through the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) Redesign Task Force, APDIM, along with other AAIM member organizations, is addressing education redesign issues from the clerkship through the fellowship and across all specialties.

As a result of APDIM and AAIM's work to build consensus, the internal medicine subspecialty community has agreed to move the Medical Subspecialties Matching Program (MSMP) to the first Wednesday of December in the third year of residency. This change provides learners with a better timeline in which to make their decision about subspecialty training. The change will go into effect in 2012 for fellows who start July 1, 2013.
