About ASP: ASP Leadership:
Task Force on Part-Time Careers
The task force is charged with meeting eight goals:
1. Develop a clear, data-driven understanding of key issues related to part-time faculty.
2. Publish a consensus statement on part-time faculty.
3. Standardize the definitions for full- and part-time faculty.
4. Determine which career paths are most and least likely to result in successful promotion for part-time faculty in departments of internal medicine.
5. Assess the cost effectiveness of part-time faculty.
6. Identify best practices for incorporating part-time faculty into departments of internal medicine.
7. Catalogue sources of external support for part-time researchers in departments.
8. Create a granting mechanism to support part-time faculty in departments at the beginning of their careers.
