Surveys & Data

CDIM Surveys

CDIM launches an annual survey each October for completion by CDIM clerkship director members. Survey responses are aggregated and deidentified for presentation at Academic Internal Medicine Week.

The data members provide are essential to the organization’s policies, planning, and research. In addition, the data provides a platform for CDIM to gain national recognition.

Goals & History of the CDIM Survey

CDIM has been surveying its members since 1999. This effort has resulted in educational scholarship and generalizable knowledge about internal medicine clerkships in U.S. and Canadian medical schools.

The CDIM Annual Survey has three main goals:

  • Assess the needs of the CDIM membership and provide course and clerkship directors with answers to questions of educational relevance.
  • To describe practices, standards, and issues affecting the teaching, learning, scholarship and research in undergraduate medical education.
  • To assess perceptions of those in educational leadership roles about practices, methods, and procedures in internal medicine undergraduate education.
