How long have you been a member of AAIM?

I can remember policies, procedures, rules and regulations but for the life I cannot remember when I became an AAIM member. When I think back, I cannot remember ever not being a member.

What is your favorite part of your job?

To determine a favorite part of my job is difficult because I love all aspects of my job for many different reasons, some more than others. However, if I have to highlight one “favorite part” it would be meeting new people, gaining new experiences, and making lifelong friends along the way.

How has the AAIM membership been of value to you and your career?

Being an AAIM member gives me a platform to ask questions, seek advice, and to see how other programs do things and incorporate new experiences into our program. It is a platform where you will always find sound advice.

What’s your favorite moment of your career so far?

My favorite moments are watching my residents finish their residency. Seeing them grow into fellows, faculty members, APD, and PD makes me proud of what they have done and are continuing to accomplish. Knowing that I was a part of their careers and that in some way I was able to be part of their journey makes my career extremely rewarding.

What was your childhood dream job?

My childhood dream wasn’t a specific one. I always knew that I wanted to work with people, make a difference in their lives and to help in any way possible. If I can put a smile on your face, I did my job.

How do you spend your free time?

I love spending time with my children. I have two young adults, Brandon who is 25 and Jaylene who is 20.  Whether we are getting coffee, shopping or having brunch, time goes by so quickly and it is so precious, I feel like if I close my eyes it just passes me by.

What is your favorite book (or movie)?

My favorite movie is tied between Grease and West Side Story.  Every time I catch them on I find myself glued to the television.

What is the best advice that you have ever received?

The best advice that I have received so far is to not take things too personally. Everyone is going through something different in their life and has their own experiences as well as their own opinions/methods of doing things, therefore I do not judge anyone and I try my hardest to help anyone I can.
