Running a Residency/GME Training Program: What Does it Take?

Course Description
This precourse is designed to provide new residency/GME program leaders (including program directors, associate program directors, core faculty, and program administrators) with a broad overview of GME education and program leadership principles.  Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to implement as a leader, manager, and educator within their training program including an overview of core functions and roles of a program leader and regulatory requirements in GME education.  Specific topics that will be covered include ABIM/ACGME oversight, clinical competency committee structure and function, and holistic recruitment. Participants will have the opportunity to network and connect with both new and experienced GME leaders, with sessions delivered in both lecture and small group formats.

Who Should Attend
  • Residency program directors, fellowship program directors, associate program directors, GME core faculty, and program administrators new to their roles
  • Residency/GME program leaders early in their career who are interested in learning and growing in their role
