2018 MPPDA Brendan Kelly Award

Namita Sachdev, MD

The Medicine-Pediatrics Program Directors Association (MPPDA) awarded Namita Sachdev, MD at the 2018 MPPDA Brendan P. Kelly Award during Academic Internal Medicine Week 2018, held March 18–21 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.

The Brendan P. Kelly Award is awarded annually by the MPPDA to an Associate Program Director of a Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program who demonstrates the teaching excellence, collaborative leadership, and compassionate patient care. 

Dr. Sachdev is described by her nominator and former mentee as “patient, kind and unassuming”. She has positively influenced and touched the lives of the residents and faculty at the University of Michigan. As a teacher and advocate for residents, Dr. Sachdev is looked at as a confidant to all. She is the recipient of the John Frohna Award for Outstanding Resident Teaching in Medicine-Pediatrics. Dr. Sachdev has participated in several committee at the University of Michigan as well as within MPPDA.

Dr. Sachdev is currently an Associate Program Director of pediatrics and internal medicine at University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Sachdev is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Michigan. After her residency, she served as chief resident for the Department of Pediatrics.
