AAIM Special Recognition Award Despriction and Criteria

About the Award

Formerly an Association of Professors of Medicine™ award, the Special Recognition Award is presented by the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine™ (AAIM™) to an individual who has contributed most to helping the alliance meet its mission which "fosters the advancement of learning, discovery, and caring by enhancing the professional growth of academic internal medicine faculty, administrators and physicians-in-training." The award is presented during Academic Internal Medicine Week.

Nomination Information

The candidate must be a current or former member of one of AAIM’s charter associations, which includes Association of Professors of Medicine, Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine™, Association of Specialty Professors™, Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine™, and Administrators of Internal Medicine™.

Self-nominations are not accepted for this award.

Nomination Information

Nominations must be submitted online.

  • A completed nomination form.
  • One nomination letter.
  • Additional letters supporting the nomination.  Please note, the committee will only consider one letter of support in addition to the first nominator’s letter.
  • The nominee’s resume or curriculum vitae.

Selection Process

The recipient is selected by the AAIM Board of Directors.  All nominations will be considered for the year they are nominated as well as the following two years.
