Academic Internal Medicine Week 2008
Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission Deadline
Monday, April 14, 2008

The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) invites the submission of research and programmatic innovation poster abstracts for Academic Internal Medicine Week 2008 (AIMW08), which will take place October 30-November 2, 2008, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

AIMW08 consists of:

  • 2008 APM Fall Symposium-ACCM Forum
  • 2008 APDIM Fall Conference
  • 2008 CDIM National Meeting
  • 29th Annual AIM Educational Conference
  • AAIM joint plenary and workshop sessions

Research abstracts should include background or introductory information, purpose, methods, the results of the research, and a brief discussion or conclusion.

Programmatic innovation abstracts should highlight innovative solutions to research, educational, or clinical problems in undergraduate or graduate medical education and should include a description of how the problem was identified and explored, the purpose, a description of the innovation, results to date, and the implications of the innovation. Tips and tools or works in progress are considered programmatic innovations.

For additional information about the abstract format, please review the guidelines for submitting an AAIM abstract.

All appropriate submissions will be reviewed by the AAIM Abstract Review Task Force. The task force will rate submissions on a scale of one to seven (seven being the highest rating). Programmatic innovations abstracts will be rated on potential interest to AAIM members, practicality of implementation, likelihood of sustainability, and the effect on the submitters' programs. Research abstracts will be rated on the research study design, generalizability to other internal medicine programs, and how novel the findings are.

All accepted abstract submitters are expected to participate in the AAIM Poster Reception Friday, October 31, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EDT. All abstracts will be available online as well as in the meeting material.

Please note that AAIM cannot waive registration fees or reimburse expenses for accepted poster presenters.

The deadline for abstract submission is Monday, April 14, 2008. Submitters will be notified of the status of their abstract review in June.

If you have questions about abstract submission, please contact AAIM Meetings Coordinator Kyle B. Jones at (202) 861-9351 or kjones@im.org.
