As part of the objectives outlined in the “Integrating Geriatrics into the Specialties of Internal Medicine: Moving Forward from Awareness to Action” project funded by The John A. Hartford Foundation, the Medical Subspecialties Section at the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) meeting was created to broaden the engagement of internal medicine specialty organizations in the agenda of improving care for elderly patients. In 2007 Lona Mody, MD, and Keith S. Kaye, MD, established the Medical Subspecialties Section. To date, Dr. Mody and Dr. Kaye have led three successful section meetings at AGS’s Annual Scientific Meeting.
