AAIM and its member organizations actively engage in policy efforts on a variety of fronts, including educating members of Congress and federal agencies and working with non-governmental regulators.  The organizations address a wide array of issues ranging from accreditation of training programs to preparation of physician-scientists, funding for medical education to increasing the diversity of the physician workforce.

This site hosts recent news on a wide array of issues and provides members of the academic internal medicine community advocacy tools.

 AAIM Creates End-of-Training EPAs

The AAIM Education Redesign Committee has developed a set of proposed "end-of-training" entrustable professional activities (EPAs)” that, when considered together, describe a resident who has sufficiently demonstrated competence and can be entrusted with entering into unsupervised practice.

 Fellowship Match Moves to PGY-3

AAIM, the subspecialty organizations, and NRMP have agreed to move the fellowship Match (MSMP) to the third year of residency beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year. AAIM and the subspecialty organizations have undertaken a national survey of fellows and fellowship program directors to plan for potential challenges to the change.
