The Accreditation Committee, monitors, reviews, and advocates for changes to accreditation standards and process; manages APDIM's relationship with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine; educates APDIM members about accreditation-related issues; and identifies the future direction of accreditation.
APDIM Program Planning Committee
Chaired by Brian M. Aboff, MD
Vice Chaired by Domonick Tammaro, MD
The Program Planning Committee plans, executes, and evaluates APDIM-sponsored meetings and precourses; plans, executes, and evaluates APDIM Chief Residents Meeting; coordinates APDIM's presence at Academic Internal Medicine Week; and identifies future APDIM meeting opportunities.
APDIM Public Policy Committee
Chaired by Alwin F. Steinmann, MD
Vice Chaired by Margaret D. Smith, MD
The Public Policy Committee monitors, reviews, and advocates for changes to legislative and governmental regulatory issues; oversees the APDIM Hill Visit Program; informs APDIM members about policy-related issues; and identifies future opportunities for APDIM in the policy arena.
APDIM Publications Committee
Chaired by Robert D. Ficalora, MD
Vice Chaired by Frederick K. Williams, MD
The Publications Committee produces APDIM's manuals (A Toolkit for Internal Medicine Education Programs and A Toolkit for Today's Chief Medical Resident); coordinates APDIM's contributions to Academic Internal Medicine Insight and The American Journal of Medicine; and identifies potential APDIM publications.
APDIM Curriculum Task Force
Chaired by Edward R. Bollard, MD
The Curriculum Task Force writes consensus-based learning objectives for key competencies developed during residency in internal medicine. The task force has completed this work regarding interpretation of electrocardiograms and is presently working on standards regarding interpretation of other images and performance of procedures.
APDIM Survey Committee
Chaired by Furman S. McDonald, MD
Vice Chaired by Stephanie A. Call, MD
The Survey Committee creates, administers, and summarizes the annual APDIM survey as well as explores the development of a longitudinal database and research network for internal medicine residency programs.
APDIM E-Learning Task Force
Chaired by Paul A. Aronowitz, MD
The E-Learning Task force develops a system to promote pre-existing, outstanding e-learning tools for use in internal medicine residency education. The task force will define educational topics, identify multiple sources of e-learning resources regarding a specific topic, review these resources, and publish a review of the most outstanding ones. The task force will also develop a standard set of quality criteria to use to review each tool.
