Council Memeber At-Large Call for Nominations
I am pleased to request nominations for an ASP Council Member At-Large.
ASP is the leading organization devoted to subspecialty internal medicine training issues. ASP has been instrumental in such initiatives as influencing J-1 visa policies, leading an effort to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs health research program, bringing geriatrics to the forefront of subspecialty internal medicine, and implementing an electronic application system which has resulted in the enrollment of nearly all internal medicine subspecialties in ERAS Fellowships. In the future, ASP plans to address many emerging topics such as the part-time workforce in departments of internal medicine and an in-service exam for fellows.
I encourage you to nominate qualified individuals who you believe will be active contributors to ASP’s initiatives. In addition, self-nominations are encouraged. After considering the nominees, the ASP Nominating Committee will present a slate of candidates to the association’s council. Once finalized, the nominating committee will distribute the slate of candidates to the ASP membership for a vote.
The criteria for nominating an ASP Council Member At-Large are such that an individual must be:
- Interested in contributing to ASP’s leadership.
- Available to serve a three-year term.
- A member in good standing at the time of nomination.
To nominate candidates for this position, please complete the nomination form and return it to the ASP office no later than Friday, April 18, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
Again, thanks. To discuss this email, the ASP Nominating Committee, or ASP, please contact me at (303) 436-5905 or stuart.linas@uchsc.edu or ASP Leadership Services Assistant Scott Gehring at (202) 861-9351 or sgehring@im.org.
