The Association of Specialty Professors (ASP) is the national organization of specialty internal medicine divisions at the US medical schools and several non-university teaching hospitals.
ASP is the only organization that focuses specifically on providing training and educational opportunities for internal medicine division chiefs and fellowship training program directors. This focus has allowed ASP to take tremendous strides to promote specialty internal medicine, facilitate cooperation within the academic medical and internal medicine communities, and assist accredited fellowship programs.
The association dedicates its efforts to:
- Promoting specialty internal medicine as a career discipline.
- Facilitating cooperation within the internal medicine community.
- Holding forums and meetings on specialty internal medicine.
- Publish educational and public policy material on specialty internal medicine.
- Support new initiatives in education, biomedical research, and patient care for the benefit of specialty training programs.
