Q: What are the responsibilities of the partnering specialty societies of the T. Franklin Williams Scholars Program?
A: ASP asks partnering societies to:
• Contribute matching funds to each award.
• Announce the availability of the awards through association newsletters, special mailings, journals, websites, or other machanisms.
• Collect all award applications.
• Review award applications. The review committee must include at least one subspecialist working in the geriatric aspects of the discipline.
• Forward the finalist's and alternate's applications to ASP for review. ASP retains the authority to approve all award recipients.
• Serve as a conduit between ASP and the awardees for funds as well as progress reports.
• Showcase award recipients by including them in award ceremonies at the society's annual meetings and providing awardees the opportunity to present their research at their annual meeting.
