APDIM is pleased to offer a year-long program for chief medical residents. Annually, APDIM has provided information and resources to chief medical residents by offering a two-day meeting in conjunction with the APDIM Spring Meeting and publishing A Toolkit for Today’s Chief Medical Resident. In addition, these services have now been extended in order to enhance and improve the chief residency year. Benefits provided to chief residents enrolled in the prgram include the following:
- The Chief Residents Meeting: This meeting introduces chief medical residents to the world of academic internal medicine and provides chiefs access to information on technology, leadership and teaching skills, professionalism, and management issues.
- A Toolkit for Today's Chief Medical Resident: This guide provides chiefs with the core competencies necessary to function in a learning and advisory role.
- The chief Residents Listserver: The listserver is designed as a networking tool and provides a forum for chief medical residents to share information and learn from each other.
- Subscriptions: For one year, each chief resident will be subscribed to two of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine's (AAIM's) publications. They are AAIM Connection, a weekly email highlighting important issues related to academic internal medicine, and Academic Internal Medicine Insight, the alliance's quarterly newsletter.
Chief residents who attend the 2007 APDIM Chief Residents Meeting held April 16-17 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, CA, will automatically be enrolled in the year-long APDIM Chief Residents Program.
